I’ve been making cooked apples on repeat for brekky lately. They are so simple, grounding and nourishing. Plus my kitchen smells like a cozy cinnamon dream whenever I make them. It’s been raining a lot in Topanga recently so my favorite mornings have been spent in cozy socks lighting all the candles around the house, turning on my kettle for a warm lemon water and preparing my warming apples.
Why I love this treat: Apples are incredibly easy to digest when cooked and very healing for your gut. In addition to being so beneficial for your gut, they boost immunity as they are rich in Vitamin C. When you cook apples, they release extra pectin which is a unique source of soluble fiber found in apple skins. This helps naturally and so gently, cleanse and eliminate unwanted toxins from the body. Thus why I love eating my Golden Apples first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to really maximize all their cleansing benefits. Simple, yet so powerful.
Ingredients:
– 4 Honeycrisp Apples
– 2 Tablespoons Coconut Oil
– Ceylon Cinnamon
– Splash of Water
– Raw Mānuka Honey
To Make:
1 In a pan melt your Coconut Oil over medium heat
2 Chop all apples
3 Toss apples into pan and stir so that the coconut oil covers them, then sprinkle with cinnamon
4 Add a splash of water and cover pan
5 Stir apples often until water is absorbed
6 Cook in pan for 15ish minutes, slowly, over low heat until they are tender – Make sure you can easily cut through them with a fork – I like mine extra soft
7 Plate & drizzle with honey if your heart desires
Make sure to enjoy this vibrant treat warm!
